Born in Houston, Texas in 1951 where I spent first 50 years . I became a part of the Houston art scene in my younger years.it wasn't until moving to rural Idaho that I devoted myself to art entirely. This wild country feeds me and I paint 10 -18 hours day. Having studied traditional Chinese art with a master for 14 years I continue to paint in this method but i no longer paint only Chinese subjects. over the years i developed a style recognizably my own yet keeping to the traditonal styles. The last two years have seen my art focus on very lengthy (over 70') continuous story paintings in folding albums. Some historical such as "logging in Pacific NW " and "East to West", a painted history of the Chinese immigrants helping to build the Pacific NW. They can be lighthearted like ""circus circus circus", or just for fun" garden of plenty" ..or controversial such as "hunting" or "falconry and cormorant fishing". The others are about locations and done as 70' folding landscape/genre of Idaho, Italy or the Netherlands. The albums are under review by a Washington University for permanent collection.
I did not become an artist. I was born an artist and have spent my life perfecting it.
Houston. .many exhibitions solo and group. Since coming to Idaho I have shown in NYC at Broadway gallery and in Idaho a solo at Magnuson gallery. I often have profiles in "art@ beyond" magazine, EiA magazine, and am in INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY MASTERS, volumes 3 and 4. My art hangs around the world and on walls of everyone from Roberto Rossellini to a Buddhist monestary in Taiwan. I also showed in the Chinese culture center in many of their group shows as an honorary member of Chinese art association. .
Self taught until studying traditional Chinese art under Frank Chiu for fourteen years.
